OVERVIEW

Extending the Life of Renewable Infrastructure

Aside from water and oil and gas pipelines, we provide technologies for monitoring and analysing the metal loss of any metal surfaces within the renewables sectors. This includes the wind turbine structure and blades both onshore and offshore. Since the offshore structure is exposed to microorganisms and salty seawater, it is more vulnerable to erosion and corrosion. Constant wave plash and mist will expose the turbine's metal component to salt particles, corroding metal surfaces and protective coatings over time.

Erosion & Corrosion Monitoring

To prevent costly failures arising from material degradation and compromised structural integrity, regular evaluations and assessments of erosion and corrosion in wind turbine structures are essential. These proactive measures allow for the early detection of stability issues, helping to prevent major incidents. Our solution focuses on identifying metal loss and determining corrosion rates, providing a comprehensive understanding of the structural condition. This insight enables effective planning for routine maintenance, minimising erosion and corrosion while extending the lifespan of the turbines.

Sand Monitoring

Wind turbine structures resting on the seabed are prone to erosion caused by sand and sediment movement. By monitoring sand activity, we can detect any sand presence early and implement preventive measures to avoid blockages in the cooling systems caused by sand particles. This proactive approach ensures that the turbines operate efficiently and maintain optimal performance.
